IVF
The eggs are placed in a Petri dish and inoculated with 100.000 sperm per egg. Mixture is placed in incubators and following day eggs are checked for fertilization.In normal circumstances with a good sperm count approximately 70/80 percent of the eggs are fertilized. The eggs continue to divide and two days after the egg recovery they achieve 4 cell stage. On the third day, embryos reach 8 cell stage. Same day, healthiest three embryos are taken and placed in the women’s uterus by plastic catheter. In our center all the embryo transfers are performed under careful ultrasound guidance in which uterus is seen easily, and embryos are transferred exactly 2cm below the top of the cavity. This gives the best pregnancy chance. Pregnancy test is performed 12 days later. In order to increase the success rates, certain procedures are performed as necessary. For example,some embryos have a thick outer layer which prevents the embryos to attach the lining of the womb. To solve this problem, the laser is used to thin out the outer layer. This is called the Assisted Hatching. Also in some cases, the embryos are transferred not 3 but 5 days after the egg recovery to select best embryos. 5th day embryo is called blastocyst and this procedure is called blastocyst transfer. .In some IVF/ICSI cycles several embryos are produced and three of them are given, remaining good quality embryos are frozen for the future use. Embryo freezing is a well developed technique today that allows women to have another chance of pregnancy. Embryo transfer is much cheaper than regular cycle because no medication is used and no anesthesia is required. Embryos are frozen for several years and can also be used in the future if the couple desires another child or if the first cycle is unsuccessful.IVF success rates are the percentage of all IVF procedures which result in a favorable outcome. Depending on the type of calculation used, this outcome may represent the number of confirmed pregnancies, called the pregnancy rate or number of live births, called the live birth rate.Due to advancement in reproductive technology, the IVF success rates are substantially better today than they were just a few years ago.
Fertility
In recent years, there has been an increase in the number of couples seeking medical assistance for infertility.The incidence of male factor is also increasing. The reasons for this is increase in the number of women delaying conception , rise in the incidence of sexually transmitted infections , environmental hazards giving rise to low sperm count and the general trend of postponement of parenthood amongst career oriented individuals . It depends on age of the woman . Period for which they have been trying for a pregnancy, Frequency of intercourse- Infrequent sexual intercourse, for example having sex once or twice in a month decreases the chance of pregnancy. Having sexual intercourse 3-4 times a week, during the fertile period would improve the chance of conception . Presence of fertility problems Existing fertility problems in either of the partners reduces the chances of conception. If the woman is below 35 years and has normal menstrual periods, and the couple has tried for a conception for a year with a frequency of sexual intercourse 3-4 times a week during the fertile period and has yet not conceived , then they need to consult an Infertility expert.The following could be the considerations. The woman is older than 35 years of age and the couple has been trying for a pregnancy for more than 6 months. The woman does not menstruate regularly i.e. her menstrual cycle is either less than 21 days or more than 45 days. The couple has difficulty or inability to have normal sexual intercourse / frequency of sexual intercourse is less. The woman has medical illness like diabetes , epilepsy or hypertension. History of pelvic infection in the woman in the past. History of medical termination of pregnancy (MTP) / 2-3 spontaneous abortions in the woman. History of surgery in the pelvis or in the lower abdomen in the woman Men with history of surgery in the external genital area . Men with prostate problems.

Siddhilife ART Centre located in Borivali in Mumbai was created passionately by the founder couple Drs. Kaustubh & Sharda Kulkarni. Both meritorious undergraduate and postgraduate students of Mumbai University. Both of them were trained in Reproductive Medicine in the the knowledge fonts of Europe (Belgium, England, Greece, Germany and France) as well as in Israel Tutored and mentored by the pioneers and stalwarts in Europe, the couple came back, home, to mumbai, to set up one of the first ‘state of the art’, comprehensive infertility facility a decade and half ago. Siddhilife, today, is Certified as an ICMR recognised Centre by the Government of India, Ministry of Health in New Delhi. This is the highest form of recognition in India in the field of infertility treatment. Siddhilife is also ISAR and ISO 2008 approved as a facility of international standards.
